What ability are these lessons for?

These lessons are for beginners through to intermediates. Private lessons are just for you or your group with a dedicated coach who will adapt the lesson to suit your needs. We can provide lessons for children ages 4+. Children under 16 they must be accompanied by an adult to the lesson and must stay at the hut for the duration of the lesson in case of emergencies.

When are the lessons and how do I book?

Please call or prefereably email to book a private lesson. We will get back to you as soon as possible. We will arrange a time that is convenient for you that works with the tides and the forecasted conditions.

How much does it cost and do you have to commit many lessons?

Please see the price list which is dependent on how many people you have in your lesson. If you would prefer a cheaper option, please check out our beginner open group lesson option on our website.

If you are a beginner, we recommend booking 2 or 3 lessons to get you started and then you may wish to join in with our club sessions. We have a womens only club, a mens only club and also kids club options. However, you can always just book one lesson and see how you like it, that’s not a problem.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring your own board / wetsuit if you have one and want to use it, otherwise we have all the kit you will need. It is helpful to arrive with your costume on under your clothes as we have limited changing room facilities. Other than that, you will just need to bring some water, suncream, a towel and some dry clothes.

What are the ages that can attend?

We can accommodate lessons for children as young as 4 but for ages 8 and under, we recommend a 1 to 1 lesson as they will require extra focus to ensure that we can build their confidence in the sea positively.

If you have mixed ages in your group, just email me and I can provide recommendations on your best options.

Who will look after us, are the instructors qualified?

All surf instructors are DBS checked and have experience in first aid. The lead instructors have also undergone lead safeguarding training. All staff are qualified surf coaches in surf coaching and lifeguarding.

What facilities will I have access to?

We have a portaloo toilet and a changing room on site. There is only one changing room so it is recommended to bring towels to change with.

What happens if there are adverse weather conditions and the session is cancelled?

If the beach is ‘red-flagged’ by the lifeguards on duty (usually due to storms / lightening / fog etc), or the instructors feel the conditions are too dangerous, we will cancel the session with as much warning as possible. We aim to cancel any sessions with at least 1 day notice. We will aim to give more notice but this will depend on the forecast. We will discuss the forecast with you and chat about alternative availability.

What equipment is included?

All equipment is included including wetsuits and surfboards. We have wetsuits for all sizes from XXS child to XXL adults. We also have surfboards for different abilities and conditions. If you have your own wetsuits and surfboards, you are welcome to bring these with you to use or if you arrive and your own equipment isn’t suitable, we will recommend something different for you to use to suit your ability and the conditions.

What are the teaching ratio’s?

The maximum ratio we work to is 1 instructor to 8 students which is in line with the governing body guidance.
